Fit for a queen

In the Pena park, surrounding the famous Pena palace, while going up and down paths and stairs, like the ones above, you can find dozens of odd unique things, like this seat:

Apparently this was queen Amélia’s favourite sightseeing spot. From this place you can see the palace and have the view I showed you on a previous post. While it may seem bizarre that this would be a queen’s favourite place and that it would actually become known as the “queen’s throne” we really shouldn’t forget that there’s a connection here with the Romantic taste of the late 19th century. Here’s the “throne” from another angle:
