After my first post regarding lithium mining in Portugal many things happened: hundreds, if not thousands, of letters were sent (as per legal requirements), more information became available, some municipalities already chose sides and some things, which seemed to come from the minds of conspiracy theorists, are now making a lot of sense. Right now we’re playing a sort of waiting game.
I wanted to have written this post before, but at the same time there were so many things happening that I needed to assess all of them before writing.
At the moment we’re trying to spread the word as much as possible and to shake things up internationally, with the help of social nertworks. The focus, basically, is on pressure and information. Want to help? Here’s what you can do:
1 – sign the petition going on in Avaaz and share it with your friends and family: tinyurl.com/y4dzxa57
2 – There’s a Facebook group, called “Teia da Terra” which set up a sort of “social network challenge”, except in this case it’s for something actually useful! Publish a selfie with a poster that contains:
– the hashtag #portugallivredeminas
– the sentence “I stand with Portugal”
– a few words on why you support us (non-partisan)
Then, share it on your social media!

Will you be doing your bit to help?
This is not just about Portugal. Nature is everyone’s backyard!

I love it that you are taking action in supporting resistance to lithium mining. I don’t think I saw your earlier post and now I need to educate myself on what’s going on over there.
It’s a messy complicated situation, as one would expect. Big money and politics don’t care about anything else besides their quick buck. It’s an ongoing fight. we’ll see how it ends!
