An arch! 🙂
To the untrained eye many, if not most, towns and villages may seem dull and without much interest. The fact, however, is that they hide plenty of interesting details if only we bother to look at them from another angle.
Why was this arch even built in the first place? Perhaps it was part of an old wall surrounding the town? Perhaps the two houses facing each other at some point belonged to the same owner and he decided to build an arch to connect them?
This arch in particular was found at Castelo de Vide, in the Alentejo – a region rich in details!
Enjoy! 🙂

Beautiful photo, and thought-provoking as well.
Thank you!
Love the arch and the picture. Takes me back to previous visits to Alentejo. Nice.
Thank you so much. Glad you liked it!
What a beautiful place and great photo 🙂
Thanks! 🙂
I love this picture-the cobblestone, the interesting plants growing on the arch, the intensity of the blue sky. I think Portugal is beautiful and interesting with so much history included.
I think the same way! 🙂 FYI, this type of urban landscape is very common in Alentejo but this could have been shot in Óbidos, to the north of Lisbon.
