Remember when I recently mentioned cities and towns by the river? Well, here’s another one: Tomar.
Not very far from the Lisbon area Tomar is a very very old town. When you walk in the streets of Tomar beneath your feet are also the streets of an old Roman town called Sellium. Actually, there’s still a Roman bridge over the river Nabão.
I mentioned Tomar before when I told you about the Convent of Christ and you can find tons of online info about this town, including its unique religious celebration which takes place every four years in July.
Here’s a trivia tidbit: Did you know that some people believe that the greatest Templar treasure is actually hidden in Tomar? I’ve done quite a bit of searching, but maybe you’ll have more luck than me! 😉
Beautiful views, and that is a treasure in itself.
Maybe *that* is the treasure! 😉
That is such a lovely, peaceful scene!
It’s even more peaceful being there!
looks like a lovely town. Never been to Portugal but I’d love to, one day!
