An old ruin? Yes. And no.

In Monserrate there are some things which were turned into ruins or made to look much older and damaged – all part of the Romantic taste of the time. Here is what used to be a small chapel and which Francis Cook ordered to be demolished in order to get that ruins-in-a-forest kind of look. I have to admit it really fits Sintra.
